The dynamic roll instability warning device offers several competitive advantages. It provides a faster warning response time and issues additional alerts in panic situations using a red LED and human voice. It records driving data through a black box, is low cost, and features plug-and-play installation. The system enhances commercial vehicle safety and helps reduce human error during driving.
An early warning system for impending vehicle rollovers is crucial, particularly for commercial vehicle drivers, to enable better control of the vehicle and help prevent accidents. To address this issue, a dynamic roll instability warning device for commercial vehicles is proposed, integrating a rollover index algorithm with driver steering and vehicle speed inputs.
The performance of the dynamic roll instability warning device is evaluated through experiments involving step-steering manoeuvres, conducted at various speeds and load conditions using the TruckSim driving simulator and MATLAB/Simulink software.
This project introduces a dynamic roll instability warning device for commercial vehicles, integrating a rollover index algorithm with driver steering and speed inputs. The device has been evaluated through step-steering manoeuvres at various speeds and load conditions using TruckSim and MATLAB/Simulink, and provides a 12.4% faster warning than existing systems. By allowing timely corrective actions, it significantly reduces rollover risk, while features such as panic alerts (LED and voice), driving data recording, low cost, and plug-and-play installation enhance vehicle safety for commercial, military, and research applications.
