Malaysia reported 110,399 dengue cases, including 156 deaths, from January to November 2019, surpassing the previous year's figures. Traditional pesticides, primarily organophosphates and synthetic pyrethroids, are ineffective, with less than 1% targeting mosquitoes and the remainder polluting the environment. These pesticides also pose significant health risks and contribute to environmental toxicity and bioaccumulation. Therefore, there is a pressing need for a more effective, environmentally friendly mosquito control method that reduces waste and production costs.
