The MyPODE concrete armour units offer a unique combination of structural performance, sustainability, and adaptability that sets them apart from conventional coastal protection solutions. Their geometrically optimised design enhances interlocking and wave energy dissipation, providing greater stability and resistance to wave-induced damage. Made from geopolymer concrete using fly ash, they significantly reduce carbon emissions compared to traditional cement-based materials, supporting green construction goals. The units are modular and scalable, allowing them to be customised for different coastal profiles and wave conditions. This makes them a cost-effective, long-lasting, and environmentally friendly solution for protecting vulnerable shorelines and marine infrastructure.

Coastal areas around the world are increasingly threatened by strong wave action, erosion, and rising sea levels, putting infrastructure, communities, and ecosystems at risk. Traditional coastal protection structures often lack the strength, durability, or adaptability needed to withstand extreme wave forces over time. Additionally, conventional concrete construction methods contribute to environmental degradation and carbon emissions. There is a need for stronger, more sustainable, and adaptable coastal defence solutions that can protect vulnerable shorelines while reducing environmental impact.

The solution is a series of geometrically engineered concrete armour units, MyPODE-one, MyPODE-two, and MyPODE-X, designed to enhance the strength and durability of coastal protection structures like breakwaters. These modular units are made from sustainable geopolymer concrete using fly ash, offering high resistance to wave-induced forces such as flexure and shear. Their optimised shapes improve stability and energy dissipation, reducing shoreline erosion and structural damage. Scalable and adaptable to various coastal profiles, they provide a long-lasting, eco-friendly defence system for climate-vulnerable coastal zones, harbours, and offshore infrastructure.

The innovation lies in the development of the MyPODE series, MyPODE-one, MyPODE-two, and MyPODE-X—geometrically optimised concrete armour units specifically designed for coastal protection. These units are made using geopolymer concrete, which incorporates fly ash as a binder, offering a more sustainable alternative to traditional cement. Their unique shapes enhance mechanical interlocking, stability, and energy dissipation, enabling them to better resist the intense forces of ocean waves. The modular and scalable design allows for flexible integration into various breakwater structures, making them suitable for a wide range of coastal environments and conditions.
