Eco-friendly inhibitor with the excellent protection due to the protective film cover the metal substrates for acidic application
Todays, the application interest are directed toward the application of green inhibitor such as plants, leaves and etc. This green inhibitor is almost cheap and environmentally friendly to protect the low carbon steel in service. Alpinia Galanga (AG) were used to extract a green corrosion inhibitor (AG).
This product used 4.0 g/L extraction in 0.5 M HCl to imitate an acidic environment for use in oil and gas applications. Based on the examination of the surface of carbon steel indicated that through the formation of a protective film on the Fe surface, both extracts had an outstanding corrosion-inhibiting effect on the Fe anode.
This innovation involves the development of a green corrosion inhibitor derived from Alpinia Galanga (AG) extract to protect low carbon steel, particularly in acidic environments common in oil and gas applications. Traditional corrosion inhibitors often contain toxic organic compounds that can harm the environment. In contrast, this plant-based inhibitor is cost-effective and environmentally friendly. Using a concentration of 4.0 g/L in 0.5 M HCl to simulate acidic conditions, the AG extract demonstrated excellent corrosion protection by forming a protective film on the steel surface, significantly reducing corrosion at the iron anode.
