Oil2WangR combines IoT technology, intelligent sensors, and automation to offer a seamless UCO collection experience. Unlike traditional collection methods, it allows households to conveniently deposit small amounts of used cooking oil while enabling collectors to gather bulk quantities efficiently. The system provides real-time tracking, automatic payments, and daily UCO pricing updates, enhancing transparency and user engagement. Additionally, the planned mobile version extends outreach and awareness, giving Oil2WangR a unique edge in promoting sustainable biodiesel production and supporting Malaysia’s green energy initiatives under the NETR.

Every year, nearly 50,000 tonnes of used cooking oil (UCO) are not properly managed, causing pollution that negatively impacts the environment. Biodiesel presents a promising alternative energy source in support of Malaysia’s green energy initiatives, in line with the Pelan Hala Tuju Peralihan Tenaga Negara (NETR) launched by the Prime Minister on 25th June 2023.

The Oil2WangR system provides an IoT-enabled solution for the collection of used cooking oil (UCO) from housing communities, converting it into biodiesel to support Malaysia’s green energy initiatives under the Pelan Hala Tuju Peralihan Tenaga Negara (NETR). The kiosks make it easy for households to sell small amounts of UCO, while collectors can efficiently gather larger volumes at scheduled intervals. A mobile version of the kiosk is planned to enhance awareness, outreach, and community engagement, addressing the environmental impact of nearly 50,000 tonnes of improperly managed UCO each year.

The Oil2WangR system introduces an intelligent IoT-enabled kiosk with a MIPS sensor that separates used cooking oil (UCO) from other liquids within seconds. Users scan a unique barcode to access the kiosk, pour in their UCO, and the system automatically calculates the amount and relays the information to the server. The system then validates the user, updates their activity, provides daily UCO pricing, and transfers the payment directly to the user’s account. This fully automated process enhances convenience, accuracy, and transparency in UCO collection.
