KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 8): Malaysian Research Accelerator for Technology and Innovation (MRANTI) announced the appointment of former Malaysian Global Innovation and Creativity Centre (MaGIC) chief executive officer (CEO) Ashran Ghazi as its new CEO effective Monday.

Ashran, who also served as Dattel Asia Group CEO, will spearhead MRANTI’s mission to accelerate technology innovations, moving them rapidly from ideas to impact.

"He will focus on three key areas: connecting Malaysian innovators with industry, investors, and the public sector; strengthening MRANTI Park as a national nucleus for innovation, particularly in autonomous technology and life sciences; and harnessing technologies such as 5G connectivity and artificial intelligence systems, supported by Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) focus areas, to bridge socio-economic drivers," MRANTI said in a statement Monday.

Meanwhile, MRANTI chairman Prof Dr Rofina Yasmin Othman said that Ashran’s track record in building innovation ecosystems, working with data driven businesses and championing entrepreneurs is strongly aligned with MRANTI’s mandate to turn ideas into impact for the country.

"We are confident that under his leadership, MRANTI will continue to strengthen Malaysia’s innovation and commercialisation pathway, deepen collaboration with industry, academia and government, and support national priorities in high impact technology areas especially involving RDICE (Research, Development, Innovation, Commercialisation and Economic Impact),” she said.

Ashran’s appointment coincides with Malaysia’s intensified efforts to commercialise local technologies, nurture deeptech ventures and to establish the country as a competitive regional innovation hub, she added.
