EcoLabs COI - EcoLabs Centre of Innovation for Energy (hosted by NTU) was established jointly by NTU, Enterprise Singapore, and SEAS to build and accelerate deep-tech energy innovation capabilities in Singapore to support the nation’s future energy transition. This joint initiative aims to help energy Start-ups and SMEs by providing them with essential translation facilities and connections, such as manpower for research & development, lab infrastructure, testbed sites and business opportunities to help them successfully commercialise and scale their innovation efforts.

Pre-Immersion Trip (5 days)

General information on the Singaporean eco-system – focused on technology and innovation.

  1. Market potential and opportunities for Malaysian innovators in the market 
  2. Business culture & regional strength - invest in municipalities of Singapore
  3. Legal affairs, financing & marketing strength — invest in new first-tier cities
  4. Specific opportunities and incentives by the Singaporean governments and private sector
  5. Building processes, relationships and networks to leverage opportunities in Singapore

Immersion Trip (5 days)

Precise business matching session

  1. Individual one-to-one virtual meetings between companies and Singapore ecosystem players.
  2. To match 1 local startup with 5 Singaporean ecosystem players.
VentureX Business Matching

Business matching meetings (inbound): Business matching meetings with inbound international corporates, companies, and industry to explore landing partnerships in Malaysia.

Validation Trip (5 days)
  1. To work with the innovators to curate and shortlist the innovators based on their priorities and with whom they would like to engage. NTU will then arrange the physical trip to Singapore, set up in-depth B2B discussions between the Malaysian innovators and organisations. 
  2. Malaysian innovators and the shortlisted organisations to facilitate letters of intent (LoI), memorandum of understanding (MoU) and/or cooperation agreements to develop suitable business models, deployment of proof of concepts (POC)/demonstration projects, signing of commercial contracts, etc.
  3. Physical visits to Singapore should be made by sufficient companies that are interested. All transportation, flights and accommodation costs are to be borne by companies respectively.

Closing Ceremony
  • Company showcase - The company showcase is to highlight companies and partners' collaborations during the time of the programme. The showcase will be pre-recorded and broadcast publicly to announce the products to the public.
  • Networking session - The networking sessions will invite our networks from the private sector, VCs, or Government agency partners to further look at collaborations after the products are established.

Commercialised (TRL 6 or Series A and above)
Majority Malaysian-owned or IP based in Malaysia
Strong financial records (minimum RM 1 mm revenue)
Solid traction (secured sufficient local market with steady transactions)
