It is more affordable than conventional ROVs used in offshore operations and is easier to operate, requiring minimal technical training. Its compact design makes it accessible for small to medium-sized service providers, and it is tailored to suit local market conditions, unlike imported, high-cost systems.

Industries such as oil & gas, water supply, ship maintenance, marine tourism, and offshore structures require frequent underwater inspections. These are often expensive, time-consuming, and risky for divers, especially in hazardous or inaccessible environments. Current solutions may be too costly or complex, limiting accessibility for local operators.

UROV is designed to operate at depths of up to 30 meters, capturing live video and recording data using a high-resolution HD camera system. It features an intuitive control system, making it suitable for non-specialist users, and includes built-in LED lights for enhanced underwater visibility.

UROV is a small and lightweight underwater robot developed by Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) to carry out real-time inspections, monitoring, and video recording in places that are hard or dangerous for divers to reach. It can operate at depths of up to 30 metres and is equipped with a high-resolution HD camera and LED lights for clear underwater visibility. Easy to control, even by non-experts, UROV is suitable for use in industries like oil and gas, water supply, ship maintenance, marine tourism, and offshore structures. It offers a safer and more affordable alternative to traditional underwater inspections.
