Utilises waste plant oil as the core raw material which translates waste into value-added end product such as rhamnolipid. Rhamnolipid is the active ingredient for many compounds such as emulsifiers and wetting agents; and has the potential to replace many chemical compounds used in detergency applications.
We face a significant challenge in efficiently converting waste plant oil into value-added products. How can we actively maximize the use of this abundant waste resource?
Rhamnolipid is a glycolipid produced by bacterial cells; which has antiviral, antibiofilm formation, fungicidal and insecticidal properties which can be used to replace chemical surfactants. The invention can be produced off-site and applied on-site which is effective immediately upon mixing without incubation process. Furthermore, it is effective and stable at wide range of temperature, pH and salinity. This invention are applied as grease solubilizer inwastewater treatment and also as protectant for synthetic bee hive.
• Withstand extreme pH, temperature• Reduce surface tension, viscosity• Non-toxic, biodegradable
Rhamnolipids falls under anionic surfactants market and was estimated at USD 16.36 billion and is projected to reach USD 20.10 billion by 2022, at a CAGR of 4.2% from 2017 to 2022. Growing demand for environmentally-friendly and sustainable solutions in carbon footprints industry such as oil & gas will be key trend to be observed which will push the present invention to capture more market globally or at least domestically.
