Ligno-XP Primer stands out due to its environmentally friendly composition and effective corrosion inhibition properties. It offers a sustainable alternative to conventional preservatives, with benefits including:1. High efficacy in preventing metal corrosion (up to 90%).2. Non-toxic and biodegradable formulation.3. Applicability in various sectors beyond archaeology, such as industrial, automotive, and oil and gas. With a patent granted and partnerships with significant industry players like Jabatan Warisan Negara and Think City Sdn. Bhd., Ligno-XP Primer is poised for commercial success in the growing global anti-corrosion coatings market.

Archaeological metals are highly susceptible to severe corrosion when exposed to the environment, necessitating effective protection to prevent deterioration. Traditional coatings often lack longevity and may be environmentally harmful. There is a critical need for a sustainable, long-lasting, and non-toxic preservative to protect these valuable artifacts from further corrosion.

Ligno-XP Primer addresses this need by using lignin extracted from oil palm fronds as a corrosion inhibitor. This green preservative forms strong covalent bonds with metal surfaces, significantly slowing down corrosion. Its non-toxic, biodegradable nature makes it an environmentally friendly alternative to conventional preservatives. Ligno-XP can be applied to pretreated artifacts and other metal surfaces, providing up to 90% corrosion inhibition.

The innovation lies in the use of lignin, a biopolymer rich in electronegative functional groups and π-electrons, which forms strong covalent bonds with metal surfaces. This unique property allows for effective and long-term conservation of archaeological metals. The primer’s green formulation, derived from lignocellulosic biomass waste, sets it apart from traditional chemical preservatives by being biodegradable, inexpensive, and non-toxic.
