Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI) Datuk Seri Aham Baba said that the government plans to enhance the expansion of robotics technology in the country, and expects to increase to 195 to 10,000 people by 2030. The ratio of robotics technology to labor in my country is 55 to 10,000 people.
Aham Baba said that the National Science Committee has approved the establishment of the Robotics Talent Development Institute, which will work with the Ministry of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation to implement plans to train talents in related fields.
"In addition to analysing current needs, we are also developing talent through the academy to ensure we can increase the target percentage by 2030."
Aham Baba mentioned the project during the launch ceremony of the Drone Inter-School Challenge 2022, which is a joint initiative of Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), the Malaysian Accelerator Research Centre for Technology and Innovation (MRANTI) and the Ministry of Education. The event attracted 5,000 students from all over the country to sign up.
In addition, Aham Baba also mentioned that drone-related technologies will also be incorporated into the education syllabus of science, technology, engineering and mathematics, and in the future, more relevant technical talents will be trained from the educational level.
