Bank’s first hackathon on digitalisation draws 100 teams

Team DoBetter took home RM30,000 in cash as well as trophies and certificates after emerging as champion at ImpactHack 2023 Hackathon by Standard Chartered.

The team won for their prototype solution BizFlow, a centralised data intelligence solution that enables businesses to harness data for actionable insights and automation.

In line with its theme “Digitalise Malaysian SMEs”, ImpactHack 2023 by Standard Chartered aimed to address common pain points faced by small and medium enterprises in their digitalisation journey.

The bank’s inaugural hackathon received overwhelming response, with 100 teams comprising more than 350 working professionals and tertiary students taking part in the 48-hour virtual hackathon.

This culminated in a grand final which saw the top 10 teams presenting their enhanced solutions to a panel of judges – Standard Chartered Malaysia managing director and consumer, private and business banking head Sammeer Sharma, Malaysia Digital Economy Malaysia funding facilitation manager Ahmad Irsyad Kamaruzaman, NFT Pangolin chief executive officer Mohamad Johan Nasir, ScaleUp Malaysia general partner and entrepreneur Aaron Sarma and Malaysian Research Accelerator for Technology and Innovation technology commercialisation general manager Dr Afnizanfaizal Abdullah.

Also present were Standard Chartered Malaysia chief technology and operations officer Joy Chowdhury and JomHack founder and chief executive officer Inbaraj Suppiah.
